Working alongside the clients’ architect, a luxury new build swimming pool has been completed close to the city of Warrington.
The pool hall includes a fully insulated swimming pool, beautiful water features, steam room and sauna, all expertly constructed by Brookforge. In addition Brookforge installed a fully automated plant room and air handling systems to maintain the pool hall environment.
The pool benefitted from an automated slatted cover, water features and tiled with high-spec large format tiles. The final result is a stunning and elegant pool hall with the highest quality finish.
It’s the fifth day on the new pool build and we’re ready for concrete! The insulated concrete form-work we use for our swimming pool shells requires the concrete to be pumped in (via a concrete pump) in a loose liquid form.
Usually pumped via a long boom it means we can reach even the hardest to reach areas and can ensure consistency through the entire pour. Any air pockets are removed with vibration which happens throughout the pour with the use of hand held concrete pokers.
In a matter of a few hours the reinforced concrete pool shell is complete and will begin to cure over night. By the following morning (day 6) the concrete has cured enough that we can begin to remove the the bracing and in the subsequent days it will strengthen further. Read More…
After four days on site the insulated concrete form-work is up and braced. The pipework and conduits through the shell are in position and any shuttering for fixing points have been added.
Final checks are made, the drawings are triple-checked and the braces are laser aligned. Everything is now ready for an early start the following morning, when the concrete is to be pumped into the ICF walls.
The beauty of using insulated concrete form-work for constructing your pool is not only the thermal efficiencies and cost savings, but it’s quick, really quick!!
The ICF blocks are lightweight and easy to handle, meaning one person could move an entire pool shell by hand to it’s location with ease. The wall ties are high strength plastic and also easy to handle. This means there is no need for heavy lifting gear, fork lifts, cranes or several site workers just to move the materials to site.
By day three the ICF swimming pool shell is up and ready for the pipework and pool shell fittings to be added.
