Pool ready for concrete!

ICF Pool Shell BracedAfter four days on site the insulated concrete form-work is up and braced. The pipework and conduits through the shell are in position and any shuttering for fixing points have been added.

Final checks are made, the drawings are triple-checked and the braces are laser aligned. Everything is now ready for an early start the following morning, when the concrete is to be pumped into the ICF walls.

Swimming Pool Refurbishment Complete

Swimming pool refurbishmentA swimming pool refurbishment has successfully completed just in time for the sun coming out this weekend. The existing outdoor pool overlooks a Cotswold valley and required a complete refurbishment. The pool had fallen into a sorry state after nearly 40 years of use so needed stripping out for a complete refurbishment and bringing up to date with the latest plant room equipment.

The pool had previously been covered with a bubble solar cover but as part of the refurbishment they required a new automated hidden slatted cover system.

The structure of the existing pool shell had stood up to the test of time but new structural calcs were required to add on a new ‘letterbox style’ cover pit; which was constructed behind the existing shallow end wall.

London Basement Swimming Pool and Steam Room

London basement swimming pool and steam roomThis London basement swimming pool and steam room project was a luxury design & build project which was first planned way back at the end of 2013.

The project required a pool, a steam room, a fully automated plant room and pool hall air handling system which would maintain a pleasant environment in the basement of an existing property.

This project was in the very popular Downshire Hill area just off Hampstead Heath in London.

As with almost all London projects site access was an issue, working with James Taylor Construction ensured site safety had to be kept at a premium and the project has reached completion within specified time frames.

The finishes specified by the architects where to a very high standard, resulting in very unique and eye catching pool hall, swimming pool and steam room.

Swimming pool wall bracing.

Pool wall bracingThis is the third update for the underground basement swimming pool which is being constructed in Wimbledon, London. The quadlock swimming pool wall have now been finished with all the associated reinforcing steelwork secured.

Once the Quad lock ICF wall has been has been constructed, aluminum strong backs are fixed to the wall and then braced to the pool slab. This is to ensure there is no movement when the concrete is poured into the wall cavity.

All the pool shell fittings, associated pipe runs and wall conduits are also installed at this time. Skimmer boxes, low level suctions, vacuum points and underwater lights are easily mounted in the quadlock wall using a hot wire gun and core drills.

At the shallow end of the pool a shuttered cave lid is built and braced to house the automatic slatted pool cover which will be hidden behind a false wall.

Pool wall construction begins in London basement pool

Pool Hall WallWork begins for the pool wall construction on a twin depth basement swimming pool in London. The walls are being constructed using the Quadlock Insulated Concrete Form-work (ICF) system and is being built on a reinforced slab installed by the existing site workers from Brookforge drawings.

The shallow water depth is 1.3m going down to a deep end water depth of 2m and the pool will be a skimmer pool with a 150mm free-board to the surround floor tiles.
