6m Deep Submarine Equipment Testing Tank in North Yorkshire

One of Brookforge’s more unusual engineering projects involved a submarine equipment testing tank in North Yorkshire. The tank was more than six metres deep and held over 700 cubic metres of water.

Water Treatment for Underwater Equipment Testing

Because the tank was used to test underwater equipment, the design needed to account for possible oil leaks and other surface contaminants.

Custom Surface Skimming System

Brookforge developed a sluice system with custom-made skimmers to remove the upper layer of water efficiently. Directional jets on the opposite side helped move surface contaminants towards the skimmers.

Commercial Filtration and Automatic Backwash

The plant room incorporated two twin multi-cyclone pre-filtration systems to remove debris before water reached the commercial filters. Besgo automatic backwash valves supported ongoing filter maintenance.
