What is a stretched ceiling?
A stretched ceiling is a reflective, waterproof, maintenance free ceiling solution available in 100’s of colours and various different finishes.
What are its applications?
- Acoustic improvements: when compared to rigid ceiling materials such as plasterboard, stretched ceiling’s acoustic absorption is far higher, resulting in less echo and reverberation. This is quite important in environments such as pool halls, restaurants, offices and other areas prone to echo.
- Waterproof: undamaged by high humidity environments such as spa or pool halls.
- Lighting: stretched ceilings allow light through, with translucent options available to control the intensity. Can be combined with LED’s, fibre optics or even daylight to create stunning effects and achieve exactly the lighting you require. Fiber optic strands can perforate the membrane without causing damage to create a starry sky effect. There are so many achievable options.
- Installation and removal: installation is remarkably quick and clean, removal is even quicker; this is perfect for maintenance work or for the addition of lighting or air conditioning.
- Design options: all manner of shapes, curves and features can be worked around and incorporated, allowing you to achieve a clean, continuous design that isn’t possible with other ceiling methods.
- Renovation: due to the speed of manufacture and ease installation, stretched ceilings are the ideal choice for refurbishing a room. They provide an effective way to transform any space with options for the ceiling membrane to be printed on, and lighting to be incorporated. The ceiling height can be dropped slightly below the existing ceiling, meaning minimal disruption to the existing fabric of the room.
