Brookforge Swimming Pool Build

Refurbishment of school pool

Brookforge Ltd. have recently completed a complete refurbishment of the pool at Dean Close School, one of Cheltenham’s oldest and most prestigious private schools.

After many years of faithful service the original pool had developed problems due to it’s age and constant use by the school and private clubs. Once the pool had become unusable due to water loss, Brookforge were called in to assess the possibility of refurbishment while retaining the existing structure.

The deep end of the pool was particularly problematic, and was the focus of most of the leakage issues. The pool had formerly been a high dive pool but as this was no longer needed it was decided to repair and fill in the deepest region with layers of re-enforced concrete. Structural engineers assessed every stage of the pools’ development ensuring the correct procedures were used at all times.

Due to the pools age and condition it was decided to replace all the existing water circulation systems to meet with modern day standards.

All the old pipework was removed and new circulation fittings were installled to increase the pool water flow rate. Once the existing ‘scum channel’ was removed; Commercial Drains, Skimmers and inlets were added to the existing shell to ensure correct water circulation.

Once the re-enforced concrete had cured, the pool was tanked and then tiled. Then entire pool hall surround and shower area also had a refurbishment with new antislip commercial tiling and drainage systems.

The pool is now back up and running with a full calender of classes and events for the foreceable furture.
