Indoor ICF Overflow Swimming Pool in Cambridgeshire

For this indoor swimming pool project in Cambridgeshire, Brookforge worked directly with the client and construction team to design, install and commission an insulated deck-level overflow pool. The design combined Quad-Lock insulated concrete formwork (ICF), a discreet slot overflow channel and carefully planned pool hall ventilation.

Quad-Lock ICF Swimming Pool Construction

The reinforced pool shell was constructed using the Quad-Lock insulated concrete formwork system. The construction approach allowed one wall of the pool hall to be built directly above a pool wall, making better use of the available space around the pool.

Discreet Slot Overflow and Waterproofing

A narrow slot overflow channel was concealed beneath the pool coping and surrounding tiles, giving the pool a clean finish. The pool shell, overflow channel and balance tank were waterproofed using Brookforge’s spray-applied flexible tanking membrane.

Polished stainless steel shell fittings were specified, together with a high-flow counter-current swimming unit in the deep-end wall. The pool also featured semicircular entry steps and submerged bench seating extending along its length.

Indoor Pool Ventilation and Humidity Control

The pool hall incorporated extensive glazing, making appropriate air handling particularly important. A fully ducted Heatstar air-handling unit was installed to manage humidity and help maintain the required air and water temperatures.
