Brookforge Swimming Pool Build

Basement Swimming Pool Design in London

Cad Screen Grab

When space above ground is limited, a basement swimming pool can offer another way to incorporate a private pool into a property development. For this London project, the client and a property developer were planning an underground extension and sought specialist swimming pool design advice.

Basement Swimming Pool Design and Consultancy

Brookforge was appointed to provide swimming pool design and off-site consultancy services. The work included designing the pool shell and helping specify the hydraulic and mechanical equipment required for the proposed indoor pool.

Integrating a swimming pool into a basement development calls for early coordination between the pool designer, structural team and other building services. Pool dimensions, access for equipment, pipe routes and plant room requirements all need consideration as part of the wider project design.

Pool Fittings, Lighting and Plant Room Specification

For this project, Brookforge’s scope included:

  • Swimming pool shell design
  • Off-site specialist pool consultancy
  • Provision of stainless steel pool hydraulic fittings
  • LED swimming pool lighting
  • Specification and supply of a Heatstar climate-control unit
  • Specification of the required pool plant room equipment

Climate Control for an Indoor Basement Pool

Ventilation and humidity control are important considerations for indoor swimming pools, particularly in enclosed spaces. The specified Heatstar climate-control system formed part of the project’s approach to managing the indoor pool environment.

Planning a Swimming Pool Below Ground

This London project demonstrates the value of bringing specialist swimming pool expertise into a development at the design stage, so the pool shell, equipment and environmental controls can be considered alongside the building itself.
