Plant Room Service & Filter Upgrade – RAF Brize Norton

RAF Brize Norton, located in Oxfordshire, is the largest Royal Air Force station in the UK, home to approximately 5,800 service personnel, 300 civilian staff, and over 1,200 contractors. The base plays a vital role in national defence, housing the RAF’s Air Mobility Force, which covers both Strategic and Tactical Air Transport as well as Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) operations.

As part of its on-site facilities, the station features a 25-metre commercial-grade indoor swimming pool, reserved exclusively for service personnel. To ensure continued high performance and water quality, the pool’s plant room recently underwent a complete service and refurbishment.

The upgrade began with the removal of all outdated equipment, making way for an entirely new commercial-grade installation. This included replacement of all major components such as pipework, pumps, valves, and filtration systems, along with fresh filter media to enhance overall water clarity and operational efficiency.

The work was completed efficiently over just a few days, with the pool fully operational and back in service within the week—minimising disruption while delivering a modern, reliable system fit for one of the UK’s most important defence sites.
