A new build school overflow pool has been commisioned by Brookforge Poolbuild engineers. Working along side the council architects and builders, Brookforge helped with the design and build on this unique school pool. As well the design of the pool structure, we specified and installed all the plantroom equipment to meet with all safety standards applicable.

An outdoor overflow pool is in the final stages of commissioning with the testing and calibrating of its thermal slatted cover.
Down on the south coast of England this pool was designed to be built using the Quadlock ICF system. Using an ICF system means the pool is highly insulated and the addition of a thermal slatted cover keeps heat losses to the minimum.
The features of this Outdoor Overflow Pool
This pool benefitted from a hidden slotted overflow system, where an overflow channel is fitted below a 30mm slot between the coping and surround tile. The tiles are supported on a stainless steel mesh preventing larger debris from entering the overflow system. The overflow water is channeled back to a balance tank which is then pumped back to the plantroom via a multicyclone pre-filter to remove any smaller yet visible debris. As the outdoor overflow pool is highly insulated on the floor and walls, a thermal slatted cover was installed within a hidden cave in the pool wall.

Concrete Pour Successful
The pool shell is cast in a single pour, a homogeneous structure is far stronger than a traditional concrete block construction.
The difference in level is to accommodate a cover which is hidden in a ‘pit’. The cover is an insulated slatted design, and features an automatic system which can be controlled wirelessly.
Quad-Lock ICF System
As the Quad-Lock panels act as shuttering for the pour, the result is clean without the wastage of ply shuttering. Quad-Lock is a modular system, which enables quick construction of insulated structures. Brookforge have adapted this system for use with swimming pool construction.

New Deck Level Pool Project
The pool will be ‘deck level’, meaning the water will be the same height as the floor in the new building. A slot between the tiles around the perimeter will receive overflowing water.
The pool features an insulated slatted cover, which is housed in a pit at one end of the pool. The cover is on a motorised reel, and can be controlled by a wireless remote.
The level of the water automatically rises and falls depending on cover position; when open, the water level rises until overflowing. When the cover is closed, the water level drops to minimise evaporation which occurs when in an overflowing state. Read More…
